HISTORY

Baba Bharthari Ji

Bhikhowal Gurudwara is centred around Yogiraj Baba BharthariNath Ji.

Maharaja Bharthari lived in Ujjain; was elder brother of Maharaja Bikramjit. He became a monk and left his kingdom to worship god, as he was hurt by his wife’s deception. He became follower of GorakhNath. 

It is also said that he worshiped the god with Baba Balak Nath Ji and he also became follower of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in his life.

Sant Baba Charan Singh Ji was follower of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Devotees are visiting this Gurudwara for last 35 years.

This place has dhuna of Yogiraj Baba BharthariNath Ji, which is active all the time. Vibhuti prasaad is also distributed here. Alongwith Baba Bharthari Nath Ji temple, separate small temples are made for lord Shiva, goddess Durga too.

• The community kitchen called langar; in this gurudwara offers meal to all of the devotees, without any distinction of cast, gender or religion. Langar is available all day and  night. All devotees sit in pangat without any discrimination in mind.
